Differentiating Between REFORM & REVOLUTION! (Written by Ammar)

Blog Post URL: http://www.stingit.net/2011/12/differentiating-between-reform-revolution/

Reform & Revolution are completely two different concepts near me... Reform is what the intellects & sensible people will talk about, whereas Revolution is what the Emotional people will talk about without pondering over the consequences...

Here's how I define both of the terms:

1: Reform means to change to a better state, form, etc; improve by alteration, substitution, abolition.
2: Revolution means an overthrow or repudiation and the thorough replacement of an established government or political system by the people governed.

According to my understanding, there are quite a number of main differences:

1: Revolution doesn't mean necessarily repair while reform is usually means so.
2: You can use reform to mean any level of improvement or development more or less. However, revolution is a complete change of thinking, methods of working etc.
3: Reformers want to fill in the cracks in the street, Revolutionaries want to tear up the street and replace it with a new street.
4: Revolutions are much more violent than Reforms.
5: Reform is raised up by changing mindsets of people & by changing the policies & preferences. Whereas Revolutions are brought up by altering the complete systems.

Revolution is an action, which happens all of sudden, supported by riots and protests of the unsatisfied people. Revolution changes the life of all the country by changing country's authority or ruling party, or a president etc. In 19-20 centuries monarchy in many countries was changed revolutionary.

Reforms are only improving the existing life of the country by new laws or correction of the previous or existing laws and so on.
