In reality TAQWA is the Quranic term and has big importance. One of its meaning is to live according to the Divine rules but keeping away from the dangers. There is positive aspect in it. The meaning of this word is so deep which cannot be translated into one word of any language. The character is also included in it. It is very difficult to define character. Most of the western intellect are also not united for the definition of the character.
The Holy Quran has so nicely solved this tie.
Mankind has two stages.
An animal stage:- Its requirements are the same as the other animals have.That is self preservation. Self assertion and procreation.
The self preservation is so strong that no body cares the interest of the others.
Second Stage is the Human stage:-
In this stage there is an objective of life and nourishment of the self .
This development or nourishment is done by safe guarding the permanent values which are received through Wahi and is quite safe in the Holy Quran.
As per Quran the animal requirements are also necessary to fulfil .
But if there become a tie between the Animal stage of life and the Human stage of life and become clash then the Animal requirements should be sacrificed to achieve the higher values .
This is called TAQWA. Same id called the Character. Not National Character but Human Character.
If at all such time comes to lay down the life should offer his/her life to safeguard the permanent values mentioned in the Quran. Because to safe guard the animal stage is the requirement of the animal life.
Quran says:-
Such people who think about the life as the animal life (Physical life) only and do not believe the human self, they are infidel (Kaffer) .
To believe the human self is the quality of the Momin.
